Hi Marcia,

We have not yet had to replace our fuel tanks although we suspect it’s in our future sometime ;-) Fingers crossed, so far they are fine.

The sailing time has been a little slim around here but we’re hoping to improve upon that this year. Glad you like the site.

@Mark – Ours is not for sale at the moment. Co-ordinating a visit “just to see” might be tricky.

@Marcia & Bruce – they come up for sale on YachtWorld and other listings every few years. There is an owners group that notifies of pending sales, on Yahoo. Since there were only 30 or so built, one has to be patient.

Hi James,

Sorry for not replying sooner. It’s the upper berth that pulls out. On many of the Libertys, it only pulls out by about 6″. In that case, the lower berth might still be usable but the person using it would have to be careful not to knock themselves on it.

We’ve modified ours so that the upper berth pulls out to a full double. In that case, the lower berth is not usable. We have guests stow luggage there instead.

Drop us a line if you’re ever in Vancouver. The boat’s often a mess, but oh, well :-)

Hello from northern BC.

I recently found your website, in the course of researching a suitable vessel for my family. I hope to be ready to purchase a boat in a few years. Until a few weeks ago, I’d never heard of a Liberty 458, but anything I can read about it sounds terrific. Thanks for the website and the information you’ve posted.

I have a question about the forward cabin in your particular layout (a layout I have seen most often in the ads I survey). Is the upper berth that pulls out into a double berth, or is it the lower? If it is the upper, does the lower settee remain useable as a berth also? I tried to visualize this from your gallery, but couldn’t quite figure it out.

Thanks again for you photos and journas. I’d love to see your boat sometime. She certainly is a thing of beauty.
